Why I Photograph

This post is originally from Look Through My Lens.

This whole blog started out as an idea to talk and share more of my photography, because I had changed it from a career path to solely a hobby. And I still greatly love and appreciate the beauty and art of photography, even though I don’t spend as much time behind a camera anymore. But it is a great activity to take one, and here is why.

Self-Expression

Photography is a great way to express yourself, through capturing what you see the way you see it. You can capture yourself in an image, or even just the world around you. That’s why Instagram is so popular.

Creativity

I enjoy editing photos as much as I do taking them, and being able to mess around with editing and try different things lets me be creative and artistic. I’m not a painter or drawer by any means, so photography is the only visual art form I really connect with to be creative.

Stress Relief

Some days I will just go out with my headphones on and take my camera with me to take some photos. It’s not because I am hunting for anything specific to photograph, it’s more because I am in my own zone when doing it, and forget any stress I may be feeling.

Feeds My Soul

Literally, this is how I would describe it. Photography, to me, can be the most beautiful art form and just feeds my creative energy and soul. Sounds cliche, but it’s true.

What is your favorite art form? Leave me a comment letting me know.

And yes, these are my photos, if you were wondering.
